Guided by the curator, Jeremy Clarke, and his deputy, a group of children from Cluster primary schools visited the Guildhall Museum in Rochester, where they learnt how history is uncovered using evidence from primary sources. They were given 2000 year old artefacts to handle and to search for evidence about life in Roman times. Evidence included the skull of a mysterious Roman lady, found within the walls of the old Roman town.
After plotting the old Roman wall on a map the children were then given a guided tour to see where the old Roman wall would have been and were shown the burial site of the Roman lady.
Once back in the museum there was a competition to make the most accurate steel yard. The day was extremely popular, and should the schools be interested, well worth a return visit!
