Medway Excellence Cluster - Aiming for Excellence

The End of Cluster Celebratory Event

To mark the end of the Cluster on the 31st March, a celebratory event was held at New Brompton College to display the work of the four strands and the findings from an evaluation conducted by Jemma Gardner, a student from the University of Surrey.

The event included speeches from Kath Chesterman, (Project Manager), Jane Heyes (Headteacher, Brompton Westbrook Primary School), Rose Collinson (Director of Children’s Services) and Jemma Gardner (Project evaluator). Each of the strands of the Excellence Cluster (Learning Mentors, Gifted and Talented, Counselling and Language Enrichment) produced display boards to represent just some of their achievements in the last three years.

So many aspects of the Cluster’s work has proven to make a difference to the Cluster schools – they have responded well to the new roles of learning and behaviour mentors, family support workers and other targeted support; the Gifted and Talented Strand generated a new ethos and culture in schools that will remain post cluster; the Counsellors proved their worth in working with the most vulnerable groups within schools; and The Early Language intervention programme continued to evolve even through the last few terms.

The members of the MECP team would like to say a warm farewell, but also a special thank you to everybody who has been part of the Medway Excellence Cluster, and who have also made the last three years so enjoyable and, above all, successful.
